morning rest

small owl in with dawn chorus

while lorries rumble distant –

lying under my life*

*The last line of the haiku is borrowed from disabled Yoga teacher Matt Sanford who said he likes doing that in the morning (yoga pose ‘corpse’). I add some modest stretches later and enjoy love flowing through my veins, even where some joints creak and some muscles groan. I will learn to do better by them.

  1. as haibuns go, this is a short one, but I still felt it deserves the category.
